How should bosses treat their employees? Why are so many people in the workplace frustrated and even turned off by the actions of their leadership? Can anything be done to address these issues?

According to educator Heidy LaFleur, author of the motivational new book Hop on the Clue Bus – A Common Sense Guide to Leadership, such feelings usually stem from faulty common sense characteristics such as organization, communication, and empathy. Fortunately, there’s a solution – leaders can embrace common sense leadership and get a clue!

In Hop on the Clue Bus, LaFleur teaches leaders to reflect on their leadership styles so they have accurate access to how their organization, listening patterns, and routines impact the people they lead. Hot-button areas include work climate and frustration, the need to listen, communication and motivation, high expectations, compassion, organization, evaluation, and relationships.

Hop on the Clue Bus is designed to be a quick read, notes LaFleur, because people are busy yet need guidance, motivation, and support in their leadership and their lives.

She comments, “I am passionate about working with people to help them be the best they can be. In turn, that attitude and behavior creates successful teams, happy employees, and effective and efficient places to work. As an elementary school principal, I believe I do just that, and in Hop on the Clue Bus, I share my approach with the world.”

Hop on the Clue Bus – A Common Sense Guide to Leadership is the first of many publications to come from LaFleur. Her second book, Hop on the Clue Bus – A Common Sense Guide to Conquering Teacher Evaluation will be published in September, 2016.

“As an author and presenter, I get the opportunity to meet and work with leaders from all walks of life. Some leaders simply do it better than others…and this book helped me figure out why.

No matter how talented you are, it is impossible for you to be an effective leader if no one wants to follow you. We all have an untapped potential of leadership qualities that bubble up inside of us from time to time. Acknowledging, developing, and mastering the qualities that a great leader must have however, poses quite a challenge. In Hop on the Clue Bus, Heidy LaFleur creatively takes the concept of leadership to a whole different level and presents it in a fun-to-read, easy-to- apply way. Her natural insight and practical experience shines brilliantly through the text.” ~ Julia Cook, national award-winning children’s author and parenting expert
