Home Business Magazine recently caught up with Cola, who was happy to share how he has been able to create music during the coronavirus crisis. He also shared how he stays productive, how he brings ideas to life through music, and more!

HBM: How have you been able to create music during the COVID-19 pandemic?

AC: “Creating music during the COVID-19 pandemic has allowed me to write and record on my own. All the magic happens at home. Many recording studios are located in someone’s house and with technology today, you could record music in the privacy of your own bedroom. I heard Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas, recorded her album in her bedroom. That seems to be the case with many music makers during this time.”

HBM: Where did the idea for your record come from?

AC: “Once I knew “Make Your Mark” was going to be a single on the record, I felt like it was a really appropriate title for what the album is all about. I’ve made marks on myself in life from situations I’ve put myself in, others have made marks on me, and I will make my mark by being the best performer I can be and by being unapologetically myself.”

HBM: What does your typical day look like and how do you make it productive?

AC: “I like to take a few moments to lay in bed just after waking up to simply be. It’s a way of meditating that I like to do right when I wake up. I then usually head to Starbucks. It’s the experience of going to the coffee shop that gives me a sense of comfort and joy. Life’s little moments go a long way. As far as making my day productive, I have a checklist of everything I have to do and try to be as organized as possible in order to remember everything. I oscillate between work and chill too much from being at home so much during the pandemic, but I manage to stay on top of everything. There’s always something to do.”

HBM: How do you bring ideas to life through music?

AC: “I just feel. I tap into my mind and think about life. I have so many deep feelings and I feel like my only way to express them is through music. It could be some feeling that I think of that day or something I’d felt at a point in my life that was really critical or memorable. Also, a lot of my music is about what effect I want to have on others. I just want to shed light and be empowering. Most of the time, I sing about something that brings me joy. My music is probably great to work out to because the lyrics are motivational.”

HBM: What’s one trend that excites you?

AC: “Climate change has become so much more talked about this year and I’ve become a lot more educated about it. Caring about the environment and the future of our world is a worthwhile trend. It makes me want to live an eco-friendlier lifestyle.”
