In November 2019, Patokh Chodiev received the Patron of the Year Award. The award was held as part of the Eighth St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. The founder of the Chodiev Foundation earned this title for many years of fruitful charity work aimed at different countries. The most important point, on the basis of which the jury made their choice, was the sponsorship of the Kabuki theater tour in Russia.

About the ceremony of awarding Patokh Chodiev the “Patron of the Year” award and the charity projects of the businessman — in this material.

The Kazakhstan businessman received the title “Patron of the Year” for his many years of charity work. The assistance to the troupe of the Japanese theater “Kabuki” in 2019 was decisive. The award to Fattah Chodiev was presented by the Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Rostislavovich Medinsky.

Fattah Chodiev Receives the Title Patron of the Year

The award ceremony of the founder of the “International Chodiev Foundation” Patokh Chodiev was held at the Faberge Museum. The Kazakhstani businessman received the “Patron of the Year” award from Vladimir Medinsky at the Eighth International Cultural Forum in St. Petersburg. The prize itself was awarded for the sixth time. In addition to the title “Patron of the Year” there were two more main nominations — “Special Contribution to the Development of Russian Culture” and “Breakthrough of the Year”.

Vladimir Medinsky said that people like Fattah Chodiev are doing a great great job for the culture of Russia and for the whole world.

“I am pleased that people notice the activities of the charity foundation, fall in love with Japanese culture, visiting, for example, performances of Kabuki, but the awards are what I and the entire fund team think about lately,” Patokh Chodiev admitted in an interview.

Patokh Chodiev: Other Charitable Projects of the Kazakhstan Businessman

For almost 25 years, the Kazakhstani businessman, along with large international business projects, has been engaged in charity. Fattah Chodiev founded a fund that initially helped the alma mater of the philanthropist, and then expanded his activities to other areas and even countries.

The “Patron of the Year” award was presented in Russia since the businessman in the Cross Year of Russia and Japan implemented several major projects at once. His decisions helped the inhabitants of both countries get closer and get to know each other’s culture. The Cross Year of Russia and Japan was held from 2018 to 2019.

On the Road to Trust: Russians in Japan

There are many more projects besides organizing tours of the Kabuki Theater. Fattah Chodiev was involved in the creation of the documentary “On the Road to Confidence: Russians in Japan.” If it weren’t for the international fund of a Kazakhstan businessman, it is unlikely that moviegoers would be able to see a masterpiece of cinema art so soon. The Kazakh businessman immediately admired the story of the film.

“The film tells the story of how, for several centuries, two countries tried to make friends, to make the unfamiliar culture of another country accessible and understandable, to establish relations and resolve conflicts. Now this movie is one of my favorites. I don’t remember that any other film over the past few years caused me so many vivid emotions,” the philanthropist said after the premiere of the film in Kazakhstan.

J-Fest

Since 2010, Chodiev has been investing in the holding of the popular Japanese festival J-FEST. For 10 years, this event has been collecting talents from Japan on its site. The Kazakhstani businessman said that he had never seen such a full house among the audience.

As if the whole world is gathering in Moscow to appreciate the performance of Japanese artists. After each festival, viewers also note that they really like the fact that at the end of J-FEST the night of showing modern high-quality Japanese cinema is traditionally held. It is known that more than 150,000 people visited J-FEST last year.

Patokh Chodiev: Kimono Ichiku Kubota

Fattah Kayumovich, together with his charity foundation, saved the collection of kimono by the Japanese fabric designer Itiku Kubota. In 2011, in an interview for the press service of the charity fund, Chodiev shared his thoughts on the Kubota collection.

“I saw a kimono ten years ago in the Ichika Kubota museum. It was like yesterday. I immediately fell in love with the creator’s plan. Then I thought that the whole world should appreciate this incredible beauty. The location of the museum is also inspiring. “Ichiku Kubota” is located near Lake Kawaguchi, from where you can see Mount Fuji. When I found out that the Japanese artist’s kimonos were going to be put up for sale, and the museum was on the verge of bankruptcy, I didn’t doubt for a minute that it was necessary to save the heritage of Japanese culture.”
