When it comes to money, most people are looking for the answer. They look outside themselves for a proven strategy or magic formula so that they can get it right.
What I’ve found in working with hundreds of small business owners is that someone else’s answer rarely works for you. It may have worked great for them but duplicating it doesn’t necessarily create the same result for you.
What if you know far more than you’ve ever given yourself credit for?
Instead of looking for the right answer, I invite you to start asking questions. Asking questions opens the door to more information and more possibilities than you have never considered and puts you and your business on the creative edge.
Here are seven quality questions you can start asking now to start creating more money in a way that works for you:
Question 1: Is this light or heavy?
In life, we get presented with a multitude of choices and opportunities and it can seem daunting to know which is the ‘right one’ to choose. This question is designed to help you navigate through the maze of choice and empower you to know that you actually know what is true for you.
What’s true for you will always make you feel lighter.
Ever notice when your business and your finances are thriving, everything in your world has a lightness to it? That’s when you’re choosing what is light. Now, have you ever had moments when things were not working, and everything just kept feeling heavier? That’s an indication that it may be time to consider choosing something different.
One of the best ways to start creating what you truly desire or what your business truly desires, is to always choose the lightness. For every choice you make you can ask this question, choose light and you’ll be amazed at what continues to show up! Especially when it’s money!
Question 2: How does it get any better than this?
Have you ever heard someone say, “It doesn’t get any better than this!” or “This is as good as it gets!” Well, your point of view creates your reality, reality does not create your point of view. You create what shows up in your life. So, if your point of view is that it doesn’t get any better, that’s exactly what you will create. When you ask, “How does it get any better than this?” you actually invite greater and greater possibilities to you all the time. You can ask this when something good happens AND when something bad happens. If the amount of money you are currently making is the most you ever thought you could make, ask “how does it get any better than this?” instead of stopping where you are. If you get a large bill, or something doesn’t go the way you thought it would with money or finances, instead of going into how terrible and wrong it is, ask, “How does it get any better than this?” You might find out that you get something else that ends up bigger and better than the loss. What if you could always create something greater than what was yesterday?
Question 3: What’s right about this, I’m not getting?
When something goes wrong, or you feel stuck, ask this question. Instead of putting all of your attention on the problem, asking this question allows you to see what else is possible that you’ve never considered. It takes you out of focusing on what’s wrong and gets you to change your perspective, so you can start changing the situation with ease. If nothing was right and nothing was wrong, what choice would you have available?
Question 4: What else is possible here that I haven’t considered?
When you come to a conclusion about anything, everything stops. Including your money flows. So, every day ask this question and it will allow more of everything, including money to continue to show up. If you have people that work for you, this is a great tool to give them when they come up against roadblocks or situations that you can’t seem to find a way out of.
Question 5: What will your life or your business be like in the next 5 years if you choose this?
Often times, people are so focused on the now that they are not taking into consideration how each choice will affect their future. If you ask this question for every choice, especially with regards to money, you’ll start seeing what a generative choice for will actually be the now and for the future. So, just ask “What will my life be like in the next 5 years If I choose this?” And get a sense of that. Then ask, “What will my life be like in the next five years if I don’t choose this,” and get that sense. Then, go with what feels the lightest. Just because an opportunity presents itself, doesn’t mean it will turn out the way you think it will. This question allows you to plan for a greater future with every choice you make today.
Question 6: If money wasn’t the issue, what would you choose?
Most people make choices based on what something costs. When you start asking questions like this, and choose from a different place, things start showing up in an easier and different way. Start asking this and choosing based on what you really desire and see what shows up for you.
Question 7: How can I invest this money to create more money?
When it comes to money, most people love to spend it. However, that doesn’t allow for it to continue to grow over time. If you really desire to create riches and wealth, you have to start asking this question. If you really desire to have a successful business, you have to start asking this question. You can choose to invest in real estate, antiques, stocks, employees etc., whatever is light for you. As you ask this question, you’ll start finding a way to create money with every dime you spend.
Whether you’re starting a new business or looking to increase your income, adding these questions to your daily life will invite you to a level of change and possibility that will invite you, your business and your money flows to thrive. What if all you have to do is ASK?
