When it comes to event marketing, promoting to the masses on social media and generating word-of-mouth buzz is key. This means utilizing all social media platforms in your strategy and encouraging your followers to share the event on their own channels. One company doing a superb job in promoting their music shows is Sound in Motion, a top event production company in the Twin Cities. After months of strategic posts, they hosted a spectacular, sold-out Illenium: The Ascend Tour show at The Armory in Minneapolis.

The Armory is a massive venue right in the middle of downtown Minneapolis, so attracting an at-capacity crowd was definitely a major success. To first generate awareness and buzz about the show, Sound in Motion shared Announcement + Contest giveaway posts on their social media channels in June. These posts encouraged the company’s large social media followings to like, comment on, and share the posts with their own social circles. It was a great way to start the butterfly effect of shares and bolster awareness of the event.

The day before the tickets went on sale, Sound in Motion shared #TBT Throwback Thursday posts of a past Illenium show in Minneapolis to spark their followers’ interest in attending the upcoming event. In September, they also shared a post that announced the two supporting artists of the show: Dabin, a popular Toronto DJ known for his music that evokes feelings, and William Black (a huge player in the “emotional dance music” genre). These posts were a great way to amp up excitement for the event.

Just days before the event, Sound in Motion hosted more social media giveaways for a bundle of tickets to the Illenium show and two of their other upcoming events. These posts were met with hundreds of likes, ecstatic comments, and shares.

Sound in Motion’s savvy online promotional tactics helped them bring yet another sold-out crowd to The Armory. The show itself was an incredible experience for attendees and featured extraordinary production elements and only the highest quality sound system. William Black and Dabin both played thrilling sets and Illenium blew the enormous crowd away with his jaw-dropping set that featured his top hits. The event brought thousands of local fans together for an unforgettable night of dancing and experiencing all the “feels”.

Illenium: The Ascend Tour was yet another sold-out show at The Armory that Sound in Motion could add to their growing list. They also have quite a few other shows this fall and winter at the massive venue, which are already generating a lot of buzz: Louis the Child on Nov. 27th, deadmau5 on December 7, Armin Van Buuren on February 1st, and Jauz on February 28th. These shows would be fantastic brand marketing opportunities for companies looking to sponsor major events in the thriving Midwest music scene!
