Relief to Women Entrepreneurs Struggling with Impostor Syndrome

Certified Hypnotherapist and author of Hypnosis for Success, Alicia Cramer, says hypnosis is a viable solution to one of the most common psychological plagues on successful women, Imposter Syndrome. Imposter Syndrome is defined as a psychological phenomenon in which successful people are unable to internalize their accomplishments, resulting in feeling like a fraud or undeserving of their success.

As a professional coach and hypnotherapist to entrepreneurs, Cramer estimates about 90% of her successful female clients have some degree of this issue.

According to studies, Imposter Syndrome affects both men and women; however, women are most likely to seek help in overcoming the symptoms. Cramer believes many of her clients have sought her out because they are aware of their self-doubts and are ready to make some significant changes.

Hypnosis offers a high success rate compared to other treatment methods, as much as 93% with an average of 6 sessions (based upon research conducted by Alfred A. Barrios, Ph.D.). Cramer does not refer to it as treatment though. She says: “There are many factors that can contribute to an individual’s self-worth and self-confidence. If we say we are treating someone, it infers there is something wrong with them. The women I work with are usually very intelligent and have accomplished many incredible things. We are not fixing something that is wrong with them; we are removing the beliefs from their subconscious that are simply not true. This is about empowerment more than treatment.”

Imposter Syndrome affects individuals from all backgrounds and ethnicities. It is commonly reported amongst actors and actresses, professionals including psychologists, college professors, attorneys, authors, executives, and entrepreneurs. It can manifest as perfectionism, procrastination, over preparation, working excessively, passing up ideal opportunities, and various other forms of self-sabotage.

“I can relate with these women,” Cramer says. I have been there and in some cases am still working on myself. It is, however, reassuring to know that there are ways to work through it, and hypnosis is one of them.”

If you are struggling with Impostor Syndrome or other forms of mental and emotional sabotage, hypnosis could be a solution. To learn more about Alicia D.
