Celebrity endorsements are one of the top ways for businesses to create mass awareness of a launch. From sponsoring tables at award show gift lounges to putting on buzzworthy concerts, companies are making great efforts to connect their products to Hollywood and get invaluable celebrity endorsements. T-Mobile did exactly that on Nov. 10th, as they celebrated the launch of their new Binge On feature with an “Un-carrier X” concert headlined by Bruno Mars, Zedd, and Lil Jon. Held at the Shrine Auditoriam in Los Angeles, the event attracted A-list guests will.i.am, actress Olivia Munn, and more.

The moment attendees entered the front gate, they were made well aware of who the concert was all about. A giant “T-Mobile” was projected on the side of the Shrine, and guests had the opportunity to walk a long T-Mobile “Magenta Carpet” leading all the way up to the entrance. In the auditorium, a large room with interactive T-Mobile displays gave attendees the chance to learn all about Binge On. With this new feature, subscribers can now stream video from 24 partners (including Netflix and Hulu!) without using up any data from their monthly plans. The concert also celebrated T-Mobile’s new enhanced Simple Choice plans, which now include double the data for no extra costs.

The concert was a glowing hit with all attendees. Zedd put on a stellar performance with mind-blowing production effects like dazzling lasers, fiery explosions, and a massive screen showing stunningly realistic images of spaceship portals. Then Lil Jon got the crowd pumped up with an electrifying DJ set filled with all of his greatest hits, including “Yeah,” “Get Low,” and “Salt Shaker”. After his set, headliner Bruno Mars took the stage and put on a remarkable performance that left everyone in awe. Shimmying along with his instrumentalists, Bruno Mars belted out hit after hit, including top favorites “Billionaire,” “Just The Way You Are,” and, of course, “Uptown Funk.”

T-Mobile’s Un-carrier X marketing initiative was an ingenious way to generate massive publicity for their Binge On launch. If other small businesses are wondering how to generate great PR for an upcoming product or service release, consider throwing a celebrity-sponsored event as well to really get your brand and new offerings in the media and public eye.
