Designing a home is everyone’s dream, especially when it comes to having to design it yourself. When you get to choose the interior decorations like colors, wall coverings, living room design, bathroom style, bedroom lighting, etc., make sure to not forget that you can only fulfill all of these if you plan well and work within your budget. Planning a house design isn’t the issue, but making sure to not go beyond your means is a crucial factor to look out for. Now, how do you plan a house design with your budget? Below are some necessary factors to consider.

Space Planning

Having a sizable extra surface area after you’re done setting up your home is a very cool idea, with the light and a more sociable environment. Imagine just how many things you can do with space! But for someone who is trying to work within a budget, it is advisable to have limited extra space because of the cost. Open spaces have a high probability of being an additional cost to the entire structure. Hence, there are one or two ways to tweak this in your favor: you can add structural walls to reduce steel spans. These structural walls must be carefully positioned so they have a minimal impact on the views and flow of spaces, and in turn the total cost.

Consolidations

The house’s plumbing is a major aspect that can drain your costs. This is because of the multiple cores that come up as you are building and also when you start maintaining the house. To avoid this, you can pick a floor plan that features a bathroom backed against a kitchen wall or a floor plan with bathrooms and laundry rooms stacked on top of each other. This way, it becomes a two-story house design. Furthermore, if there’s a flooding due to plumbing problems, you may have to hire a drainage company and then pay to fix damages. Only having two levels in the house will be easier to manage.

Simple Geometry

This is one aspect that we often overlook, and it is one of the most important factors to consider. Building out or down is a lovely idea, but when you are trying to work with a budget, that is a bad idea! You should know that multilevel and compact home designs cost less to build than sprawling one-levels. Choose a house design with a second floor instead of digging a basement that shoots up the total cost of everything.

In case you really need extra storage, you can consider attics, garages, and crawl spaces. If you really want to work with a budget, try as much as possible to use simple designs and stay clear of building complexities. This is because the more complexities in your house designs, the higher your costs. These costs include labor costs that consist of payment for all the workers, the cost of the house planner, and other people you have to hire to see the completion of your home.

Construction

When you are planning the design of your house and trying to work with a specific budget, you are thinking of amenities you would love and need to have. This means you are planning to get things that are of utmost necessity for your home, not things that are deemed ‘normal’. For instance, soaking tubs and fireplaces may not be entirely essential, yet they are quite expensive to install, and they take up spaces too.

Fixtures and Rooflines

Everyone loves a big roofline, as it is so nice to look up and see your roofline all spaced out and beautiful! This is really cool, but for someone who is working with a budget, that luxury isn’t needed. You can opt for simpler rooflines that are less costly to build and maintain.

In planning a house design with a specific budget, ensure you carefully make decisions. This is so you get to build something really nice and at the same time work with what you have.
