Eduard de Guardiola and the Perks of Giving Back

Eduard de Guardiola

After achieving success, most people’s perspectives are going to change. This is because chasing their goals is no longer a priority as they already reached them. Instead, they now have additional time that can be used to help others succeed or give back to their community. Consequently, nearly all thriving businesses find ways to help those around them. Does doing so pay off? In other words, what exactly are the reasons why most entrepreneurs and organizations work hard to give back to the community?

Helps the Community Grow

Although the government does as much as possible to elevate society, they often lack the resources to help everyone. This is why it is extremely important for individuals to provide assistance as often as possible. Expectedly, helping the community grow is the most obvious reason for all entities to consider getting involved.

According to the CEO of Vista Realty Partners, Eduard de Guardiola, the number of ways in which someone can help is almost unlimited. Just consider, for example, some of the following ways to give back:

  • Donating funds to perpetuate development;
  • Providing free services;
  • Teaching others how to do something;
  • Raising awareness about a certain issue.

Although the list goes on, the aforementioned alternatives tend to be the most common alternatives for aiding others. Therefore, there is practically no valid excuse to not get involved and work with those who need assistance.

Lifts the Company’s Morale

When companies help the community, the community is not the only one that will experience positive outcomes. In fact, the employees could become more productive after they are given an opportunity to work on a cause that they care about. Consider how some of the popular accounting firms motivate their CPAs to give back. Instead of merely advising them to volunteer, they offer time off that should be used for community events.

Thus, the employees are able to leave work and go volunteer without impacting their future at the firm. After all, when a worker is given a chance to do something that they truly care about, they are bound to be extremely grateful. Consequently, their loyalty to the company will increase and they will be more inclined to work harder.

Saves Money on Taxes

Although taxes are generally not the first thing that comes to mind when speaking about volunteering, they do have an important connection here. After all, individuals and companies can claim certain tax deductions for the funds given as charitable contributions. The purpose of this law is to incentivize everyone to donate as much as possible.

Even after the latest tax law change in 2017, most of the charity provisions remain unchanged. Thus, companies can decide to use some of their capital to help others instead of spending it on year-end taxes. It is hard to think of a better example for a win-win scenario!

Inspires Others

As Eduard de Guardiola further notices, giving back can inspire other organizations to do the same. Since campaigns where someone helps the society are highly publicized, they result in a plethora of free media coverage. In order to stay competitive, businesses are practically forced to keep up with their opponents who engage in such ventures.

If a conglomerate like Amazon spends a billion dollars in donations, Google may be inclined to do the same. After a while, the entire ordeal could snowball into a massive trend where the communities come out victorious.

Highly Rewarding

Even though self-recognition is not extremely important when helping others, it can be an important positive reinforcement. People who help others will generally see it as a rewarding experience that can be used for motivational purposes. The more that they give back, the more accomplished they will feel. Their enthusiasm and happiness levels will increase as they become proud of their work with the community.

Additionally, other common byproducts of charity work include learning about new perspectives and recognizing humility. Just think about the number of different upbringings that one will come in touch with while volunteering for those in need. Not to mention how humbling it may be to see the impact that someone’s actions have on those who are less fortunate.
