The annual KAABOO Del Mar music festival is always the perfect mix of much-anticipated headliners, fun in the sun, and outstanding interactive activations by first-rate brands. Last weekend, thousands of music lovers descended upon the Del Mar Racetrack + Fairgrounds for three days of exciting music performances, comedy acts, delectable eats, and fun brand pop-ups. It was the perfect event to close out the 2019 summer music festival season.
The music acts at KAABOO Del Mar 2018 were fantastic, and this year’s lineup was just as remarkable. On Friday, the BMW Encinitas Trestles stage featured awe-inspiring sets by The Cult and Silversun Pickups, and the crowd at the USAA Grandview stage went wild for Boyz II Men and Snoop Dogg + Wu-Tang Clan. A massive crowd also swelled at the Sunset Cliffs stage for Kings of Leon, who put on a show for the books. People everywhere were seen shouting the lyrics to “Use Somebody” and their other hits!
Saturday’s lineup was just electrifying as the prior day’s. Cheat Codes, Sublime With Rome, Black Eyed Peas, and Erick Diaz all put on superb performances at the USAA Grandview stage. At the Sunset Cliffs stage, the enormous crowd also went gaga over OneRepublic and Dave Matthews Band. It was a riveting day filled with phenomenal music performances that no one would ever forget.
Sunday music roster was also packed with a bevy of exceptional artists. Lifehouse, The Bangles, and Sheryl Crow all dominated the Sunset Cliffs stage, with Mumford & Sons closing out the night with a wonderful performance filled with all their greatest hits. The USAA Grandview stage also featured Cash Cash (who got the crowd amped to their hits like “Take Me Home”), as well as The Revivalists and Duran Duran. Colbie Caliat also put on a fantastic show at the BMW Encinitas Trestles stage.
In addition to the heavy-hitter headliners, globally-renowned brands also stole the show at this year’s KAABOO Del Mar music festival. USAA® financial services sponsored one of the major stages at the festival, as well as BMW Encinitas (who also placed some of their luxe automobiles around the festival). Other Presenting Sponsors included Aflac, MGM Resorts International, and Coors Light (who provided a fun trailer and dance area for attendees to cool off with a refreshing beer and get their groove on to fun electronic dance music).
The event’s Platinum Supporting Sponsors were Modelo and Verizon Up (who provided a special Members Lounge for Verizon Customers), and Gold Supporting Sponsor Nixon had a fun pop-up for attendees to browse their custom-made accessories. Hippeas also handed out sample packs of their tasty, healthy organic chickpea puffs and Blue Moon Brewing Company also provided a relaxing Grove Getaway for attendees to grab a tasty “Kaabrew” pour, Blueberry Berliner. bai antioxidant infusions also provided an exciting silent disco and Hendrick’s Gin had the ultimate activation: a branded hot air balloon ride!
Comedy lovers could also check out the Humor Me stage (sponsored by IFC), which featured legendary comedians like Bob Saget and Wayne Brady. Other must-see comedians included Cameron Esposito + Cristela Alonso, Jimmy O. Yang, and Bert Kreischer. Foodies could also check out demonstrations by top-notch chefs like Nyesha Arrington and Michael Mina at the San Pellegrino PALATE + Play stage.
In all, KAABOO Del Mar 2019 music festival was an extraordinary experience that left attendees in high spirits. The headliners were terrific, the festival layout was well-organized, and there were many other exciting activities for attendees to partake in in-between music acts. All of the attending sponsors were also able to market themselves to thousands of attendees and increase their brand awareness. The festival was a massive success and we’re already looking forward to next year!
