What’s to Love About the Nissan Pathfinder?

The Nissan Pathfinder is not a new model, but the 2017 version has many new and exciting upgrades. A whole new design and a more powerful engine makes it better than ever before, but is it worth the price? It’s not a luxury vehicle and buyers shouldn’t expect it to be — but then again, that is not why car buyers choose the Nissan Pathfinder. With a base price of $30,000, there are many other options in that price range. The new additions might be attractive, but is the car attractive enough for Nissan lovers to invest in the 2017 model?

The height of the Pathfinder is just right to comfortably climb in and also has enough head- and legroom to be comfortable once you are inside. As a change from last year’s model, the new design makes it easier to get into and out of, which is highly attractive for those wanting a low-maintenance crossover.

Another great feature that not all crossovers offer is the option of 4WD. This differs from AWD — switching over is manual, but the good news is that once you put the vehicle into gear, it can take a whole lot of punishment and will grip the road with ease. The attraction of a crossover is that it has the room and functionality of an SUV with the feel of a sedan, which is easier to operate. The 2017 Nissan Pathfinder is more SUV than it is a sedan when it comes to handling, so it might be more appropriate for someone who is looking for an automobile that is “rougher around the edges.”

More room

One of the biggest design changes on Nissans for sale that makes 2017 models more attractive is that it is much roomier than ever before. The second row is completely adjustable, and there is also a third row, which might not give the backseat riders ample leg room, but it does mean that more passengers can come along for the ride. The third row might be a little tough to maneuver unless you are a kid, but it is an excellent addition for a mom who wants more seats to accommodate friends and playdate pals.

The good news is that although the back or third row is a tight squeeze, the backseat is nice and roomy when you tilt the seats back. So, for someone who rarely intends to use the third row it really just means a roomier ride with fold-down seats in the back for extra space.

More powerful

The 2017 Nissan Pathfinder has a newly designed 3.5-liter V6 engine that has more power on reserve than ever before. The 284 horsepower gives drivers a little extra boost when entering the highway or passing traffic. The engine might not as intimidating as others in the crossover class, but that means better gas mileage.

Luxury features

Although it’s not typically a car known for luxury, there are some excellent upgrades that can make this a super comfy car to drive. The seating position of the driver adjusts to your curves and has lumbar support for those who commute long distances. The additional heated and ventilated seats make sure that the weather in the cabin is always comfortable.

Not so upgraded but nostalgic

The dashboard isn’t anything high-tech or cutting-edge, but that isn’t what the Nissan Pathfinder is about. It’s a bare-bones type of car with all the minimum controls that you need. Looking slightly retro, it has a full infotainment system guided by an 8-inch display touch screen. It might not be the most technologically advanced system, but it definitely does the trick. Being able to stream Pandora and use your smartphone for connectivity is a major upgrade that not all cars in this class have, especially at the same price point.

There is a reason why the Nissan Pathfinder has been around for as long as it has. It fills a niche market that is looking for a tough all-terrain vehicle that isn’t overwhelming in either ability to control or affordability. Less of a sedan and more of an SUV, it has a third-row seat that might not be the best, but comes with excellent second-row room and everything you need without all the other high-tech stuff that you probably don’t.
