Kendra Bray Uses Art of Microblading for Fuller Brows

Kendra Bray, owner and founder of one of New York City’s most buzzed about Microblading salons, came about the art of microblading by turning her insecurity into a successful career just over a year ago. Since, Kendra’s work has been praised by a variety of high-profile media outlets and celebrities.

Microblading is the process of delicately implanting pigment beneath the surface of the skin by using sterile, disposable, tiny hand needles to create the appearance of hair strokes. Unlike traditional tattoos that use a machine, the hand needles can create crisp, thin lines or “hair strokes”. This technique is meant to be a natural, subtle looking enhancement that creates the illusion of fuller brows.

Priding herself on her diligent and precise work while giving each of her clients a personal experience, microblading and permanent makeup was not always what she pictured herself doing full time. Kendra had been in the modeling industry for quite some time, taking endless gigs to make ends meet. While on these shoots, she had experienced many makeup artists who would constantly point out her unsymmetrical brows. She knew she had to find a solution to make her brows even without having to pencil them in every day, and came across the art of microblading.

Kendra, who is now a licensed microblading artist, is constantly thrilled by the happiness of her clients’ experiences after getting their treatments done. From those with barely any brow hair to those with naturally full brows who need help with shaping and symmetry, Kendra makes each client’s dream brows come to life. Kendra makes sure each client walks out of her salon with the brows they’ve tried to achieve for so long.

Microblading is a two-part process. The initial appointment takes approximately two hours, during which time Kendra designs the brows, discusses color, numbs and tattoos her client. A follow up appointment, which is conducted anywhere from 4-12 weeks after the initial appointment, takes about an hour and a half. This is when Kendra can see how the first stroke marks have healed, if they need to adjust the coloring, etc.

This semi-permanent procedure is designed to fade over time. Different factors, including skin type, sun exposure, pigment color, chemical peels coming in touch with the area etc., will affect how fast the pigment breaks down.
