FlexJobs Database in 2016 Welcomes Hundreds of Jobs Across Diverse Industries

There are misconceptions that only certain career fields, for example, computer/IT, marketing, and writing, recruit flexible workers. However, FlexJobs reports that it added  hundreds of new employers to its database this year. These companies are from various industries, and they have remote, part-time, flexible, and freelance job openings.

The FlexJobs Company Database

The FlexJobs company database now exceeds 47,000 companies, and these companies currently hire for flexible jobs. 80 percent of U.S. companies currently offer flexible work arrangements. Moreover, FlexJobs experienced a 74 percent increase in companies featured in its database since 2013.

The Flexible Job Movement

“The flexible job movement continues to grow, and it continues to diversify. For example, companies such as Cisco, CVS Health, and USDA join many other employers. They now recognize the benefits of incorporating flexible workers into their business model,” said Sara Sutton Fell, Founder and CEO of FlexJobs. “The movement supports win-win flexible work options. Furthermore, telecommuting, flexible schedules, and freelance work continued to grow stronger in 2017. FlexJobs is proud that it created a space that connects forward-thinking companies with qualified candidates.”

Flexible Job Industries and Career Categories

The highest number of new employers came from the Consulting, Computer/IT, Education, Finance, Marketing, Medical and Health, and Nonprofit industries. These employers offer a wide range of career categories, and they include Arts & Entertainment, Environmental, Government, HR, Insurance, Fashion, Travel, Legal, Pharmaceutical, Retail, Research, and Sports & Fitness.

Flexible Job Titles

Job titles that these companies recruited for are extremely diverse and surprising. Common assumptions led people to falsely believe that many jobs were not conducive to flexible options. However, jobs were flexible and came with job titles such as corporate development director, field marketing manager, network security engineer, senior business analyst, and technical lead, as well as project director, customer service advisor, and mortgage loan officer.
