Using Social Media for Your Business

Some people really enjoy the ease of access when it comes to social media, whereas others long for the days gone by where letter writing and seeing people in person was more the norm. Whichever category you fall into, it is hard to deny that social media has found its place within the world, especially to aid businesses with their growth and development.

For your business, you can choose to manage your social media presence yourself, or to find a company that will deal with all your posts and responses on your behalf. Certain business sectors may also be able to find companies that deal with their specific type of business, such as using a Facebook marketing company for attorneys rather than one that deals with generalised marketing as a whole.

Pages

Creating your own page or account specifically for your business can help to keep your work and personal lives separate. This means that, when you are liaising with business contacts, they will not be able to view any information, photos, or other items that you might have posted on your private account. This page will ensure that potential clients or those interested in what you do will be met with relevant information solely about your business.

Adverts

Advertising on social media can help you to spread the word about your venture to those that matter. Being able to filter the target audience based on age, gender, country and city, will stop you from paying extra that you would spend if those who are unlikely to be interested in your brand were to see or click on it.

If you can, it can also be a good idea to specify the interests of those that you would like to view your business to further filter the candidate pool. One example of this is, if your business is about children’s clothing, you might try to target those who have ‘parenting’ in their interests and try to target women aged between 20 and 35, who may be more likely to have young children.

Playing around with advert settings and content, then looking at the results, can help you find out what methods of advertising and layouts work best for your business.

Messaging

If you run your business in person, you might be used to engaging with customers or clients. Using social media is no different. Members of the public will be able to message you with any queries, and you can still liaise with them. While this may not be as personal as in a face-to-face transaction, it does mean that you can run your business from wherever you like, but cater to customers throughout the country, or even world.

Having a basic working knowledge of social media can really help you to grow your company. If you are in doubt, or do not have the time, it is also possible to outsource this work to a marketing company or individuals who will promote and run this for you.
