Social media is one of the best and most cost-efficient marketing platforms these days. If you have not started to market yourself on social media, it is about time you do.

Whether you are marketing your clothing store, yourself, another brand, or analyzing the NFL Week 9 odds, you must have some sort of a strategy. This article provides you with some great tips in order to make it a bit easier for you.

1. Choose a Strategy

First of all, you must define the goal in the various channels of social media. Is your goal to build a brand through clicks, likes, and shares, or do you want to use social media as a sales channel? There is no conclusion as to what the best strategy is, as it varies based on what you want to achieve.

2. Who’s Your Target Group?

Focus on the target audience when creating content to market yourself. Be as specific as possible and consider gender, age, place of residence, and other demographic factors. Keep this in mind when you produce content and make sure to create content that generates interest and awareness. At the same time, remember to be in line with your company’s strategy and communication plan.

3. Be Consistent and Stick to the Strategy

Once you created a strategy and, preferably, a content plan, do not decide on anything new. Be consistent and stick to one image style, font, and/or colors. In marketing yourself, you want your followers to recognize you with your unique style. A test phase for this, with different plans and strategies, is of course advisable.

4. Think Quality

The goal is for the posts to arouse emotions, such as the follower feeling a certain form of satisfaction or joy. Here, you are welcome to use humor and ask questions to create engagement or discussion in the comment section.

5. Make Sure You’re Using the Right Platform

Again, you need to look at your target audience. Use the platform that your target audience uses the most. Surveys show that the younger target group interacts most on Snapchat and Instagram, and the older generation is more active on Facebook.

6. Be Active and Engaging When You Market Yourself

Don’t forget to post actively, comment, and like other posts between your publications. Follow up on your own posts and communicate with your followers in the form of likes and comments. This helps you build networks on social media and increases the likelihood of ending up on other peoples’ “discover” pages.
