Cultivating Relationships Through Social Media in the Pandemic Era

Ronn Torossian of 5WPR

According to Ronn Torossian of 5WPR, social media is an important tool for us to connect with people who share our passion for better health. These relationships through social media are not just about sharing stories and news articles. They are also about having a conversation.

The days of simply pitching a story and hoping someone picks it up are long gone. Today, PR pros must be active on social media, particularly Facebook, to get their clients’ stories out there and shared.

According to a survey conducted by PRSA, more than half of PR professionals said they believe it is important for their clients to be active on Facebook. And to get other people in the industry to share a client’s stories, one must understand how Facebook works and how it deploys.

The Power of Hashtags

Hashtags have been around for years now. However, until recently, they were not used as effectively as they could be. Now that more people use them on their own accounts, brands take advantage of this trend and include them in their posts.

For example, say a client is launching a new product or service and wants to reach out to influencers in the industry. They include hashtags like #PRWeekly or #PRSAToday in a post which allows other influencers who follow those hashtags see it and share it with their followers

Ronn Torossian On Keeping It Simple

According to Ronn Torossian, one of the most interesting things seen is how social media helped bring people together. As a culture, we became more and more social. This is especially true for the younger generations who need to connect to feel like they belong. Relationships through social media make them feel like they are not missing out on something. This is a positive or negative thing depending on how you use it.

Social media became an important part of most people’s lives. Some people even rely on it as their main form of communication. It also became an important tool for brands who want to build relationships with their customers and potential customers.

Pandemics and Social Media

But, what happens when people get sick or when they have a pandemic virus? People naturally are scared and do not want to hear from brands or businesses at all. So how do we stay in touch with our customers during this time?

The answer is simple: simply do not stop talking to them! Just make sure that shared content and brand messages are relevant and helpful in this situation. There are several ways that this is done without having shared posts being immediately deleted or ignored by followers.

Also remember to keep it brief because no one wants to read an unnecessarily long post about how well a company does.
