Five Characteristics That All Compelling Content Must Have

Every business has an incentive to create content that their customers and clients will enjoy. You may write this content to set yourself apart from your competition as a thought leader, or create engaging articles and videos that help keep your customers returning to your site. The more often they return, the more likely they will buy from you again.

Content is also king when it comes to SEO. Engaging, thoughtful, and optimized content is far more likely to rank well than, say, your homepage or services page. People want information, and by providing it to them, you can finally realize your search engine ranking goals.

Create Your Content

To create content that will be wildly shared among your audience, you will need to follow these steps:

1. Have a Purpose

The first step is to know your purpose. This purpose could be to update your audience on the latest news and trends in your industry. Or it could be a how-to article that will help them make further use of your products or services. Whatever the purpose, the content you create will need to be relevant to your demographic. If it isn’t, it doesn’t matter how well written or useful your content is; it won’t be engaged with.

2. Be Well Written

Your writing should be free of grammatical errors, use jargon and turn of phrase common with your demographic, and above all be interesting. A variety of sentence types and structures can help with the flow of writing. You want people to enjoy what is being said, not how it is said.

3. Be Formatted for Easy Reading

Formatting is key for both SEO and for easy reading purposes. Have small paragraphs, plenty of headings and subheadings, and add visual components throughout.

4. Have Visual Components

Photos, videos, infographics, and other visual, interactive content is a must to increase engagement. How-to articles, in particular, can benefit from a visual tutorial to showcase what you mean in your sentences.

5. Be Engaging

Technology is interactive at its core, so create content that can be engaged with physically. You can employ interactive content services that create clickable infographics that are fun, engaging and memorable. They will also be so unique that the chances they will be shared amongst users will skyrocket. People love touching things, they love seeing a reaction and they will love your interactive infographics.

Market Your Content

Once you have created this great content, you will then need to market it. If you don’t, the reach will be minimal. You are still competing in the attention market, after all, and if you don’t do your best to get your content out there and in the hands of those who are likely to share and engage with it your investment will be wasted. People won’t know to look if they don’t know it exists, so treat each article like a new product that needs to be circulated and advertised.

Compelling content takes time and energy to plan, devise and market. It is not, however, optional. Marketing succeeds so much more when you have strong content to back it up, so start today to re-evaluate your content strategy today.

And Finally… Be Able to Live Up to Promises

Along with creating compelling content, you need to make sure your business can live up to promises. Your content and the way you present your services can be matched in other ways, including the way you eventually deliver your services to your clients and the way you present the business as a whole. For instance, are your offices up to scratch? It would be jarring to put in all the hard work into creating engaging content to attract a consumer, only to organize a meeting and see it fall by the wayside because you are unprepared and ill-equipped to deal with clients coming to your building.

You should, therefore, try and invest thought into the physical aspects of your business, too, so you can present your services in the best possible way. This may require seeking the help and advice of a construction development management team.

Whatever it takes, be that through focusing on your content, to redesigning your offices, you will be ensuring your company is presented in the best possible light moving forward.
