Garden Renovations for the Springtime

Spring is an exciting time to be out in the garden, whatever part of the country you’re in. It’s a chance to clean the place up, make a few changes, and prepare the space for all of the barbeques, shindigs, and get-togethers you’ll be hosting throughout the summer. Since the daylight hours are going to be getting longer, and the weather is going to be a little bit more hospitable, you might already be thinking about just such an event!

If you’re going to get the most from your garden at this time of year, then a few renovations stand out as worthwhile. Let’s take a look at a few of the more obvious candidates.

Outdoor seating

If your garden can’t accommodate your friends and family, then it will always feel like it’s falling slightly short of its potential. Ideally, you’ll want an outdoor dining area that’s surrounded by seating. Make sure that there’s adequate room to get up and sit down, and that foot traffic can flow freely around your furniture.

Table décor

A few decorations can help to lend a bit of personality to your outdoor tables. This might be something that sits in the middle of the table as a centerpiece, or it might be something that hangs over the top of it. Practical centerpieces might include an ice box or a firepit (more on that later). These are the sorts of features you’ll want to plan the entire setup around.

Make it personal

The more of your personality you can put into your garden space, the easier it will be to unwind and relax out there. If you’re a golfer you can put in some artificial grass to make a little putting green, for example. Pick out a few of your favorite flowers and make sure that you’re planting them at the appropriate times. Showcase them in flowerpots, so that they’re in view. That way, you can always move them around to create space when it’s needed.

When Easter itself rolls around, you might want to have a few activities planned for the kids to enjoy. It doesn’t get much more traditional (or more fun) than the classic Easter egg hunt. With a little bit of planning, it’s a great way to spend a sunny afternoon in Spring.

Mood lighting

Dangling fairy lights tend to create visual interest at night time, and if they’re solar-powered, you don’t need to worry about wiring them up to the main supply. Alternatively, you can wire up a battery-powered solution with the help of a few battery clips in which you can control the intensity and volume to gauge the full effect of mood lighting.

A firepit, as we’ve mentioned, might also make for a spectacular centerpiece. Make sure that you aren’t leaving children unsupervised around it, and that it’s sturdy enough that it won’t topple.

Keeping cool

In some parts of the country, you might find that the weather during Springtime is a little bit unpredictable. As such, it’s a good idea to include a few blankets and throws that you can pick up and snuggle under where appropriate.
