St. Patrick’s Day is almost here! This celebration of all things Irish is always a fun way for entrepreneurs to let loose and revamp their creativity. Home Business Magazine recently caught up with popular businesses (several from Ireland!) to get their take on what they plan to do for the holiday. From a fun “drowning your shamrock” Irish tradition to dinner with friends, the entrepreneurs were happy to share their St. Paddy’s Day plans.

At BubbleBum, we celebrate St Patrick’s Day in the most reverend and appropriate of way–by not going to work. We are fortunate that in Ireland, the day of our patron saint is a public holiday. When St Patrick’s Day falls on a weekend (as it will this year), there is a double celebration, as we will have the following Monday off as well.

As a childless 30 year old, there is only one place where it is socially acceptable to spend St Patrick’s Day: the pub. The traditional trip to the pub in the afternoon is referred to as ‘drowning your shamrock’, which is probably a fair assessment. On St Patrick’s Day, it is customary to wear a little bunch of shamrocks on your lapel, and these can be found in every convenience store in Ireland. By 10pm, what was once lush and green, is droopy and shriveled, reflecting the general condition of the wearer himself.

Music (or in Irish; Cheoil) is an enormous part of the St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Ireland. Traditional music of varying quality fills the streets, homes, and pubs as everyone rushes to embrace their Irish heritage… and woe betide the lady or gentleman who does not don at least one green item of clothing on St Patrick’s Day!

We also launched a festive Irish Shamrocks BubbleBum that is perfect for families traveling with their little ones on the holiday and beyond.”

“There have been great changes with the Active Iron team over the last 12 months, and we are delighted that we are now a team of 17 celebrating St Patricks Day 2019. As an Irish based company, we are lucky to enjoy a day off to celebrate our national day and as (Irish) luck would have it, this year it falls on a weekend. That means there will be not one but three days for celebrations.

The team will celebrate St Patrick’s Day across Ireland from our home base in Cork to Dublin, Clare, Wicklow and Kerry. Our UK Sales Manager has even promised to get involved with the London celebrations, although it probably helps that he is married to an Irish Cailin (woman).

On Sunday the 17th, you’ll find us swapping our Active Iron orange to get decked out in green, with our shamrock pinned on and faces painted. We will head to parades across the country–some will participate and others will cheer on family and friends. It is probably worth mentioning that a traditional Irish drink known as the black stuff is also a great source of iron, so we might even try some of that to keep our energy high for a great day of celebrations. From all of us here at Active Iron, we wish you a Happy St Patricks Day!”

“While I’m Portuguese, my family happily partakes in the St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Our plan for March 17th is to eat the traditional Irish corn beef and cabbage meal with our best Irish friends–I am hoping their good luck will rub off on us! (laughs) Isabelle Grace Jewelry also offers several fun necklaces that will you look extra festive for the fun holiday: the Horseshoe Necklace, Lucky Coin Necklace, and Lucky Necklace.”
