The thing to remember is to be happy. If you are unhappy in your current position, you want to question if this is really your vocation or should you be doing something else with your life? Whatever that something else is, if you want it badly enough, you should follow your heart.

There are some careers that will require you to go back to school and gain the relevant qualifications. This could mean an extended delay in reaching your goal, depending on your end game.

But what if you don’t know what you want to do? A great place to start is to look at what you enjoy and see if you can see yourself working in that field. If so, then looking at your options can open you up to different ideas you may not have considered or even be aware of.

Flying.

If you enjoy flying, then there are many different opportunities available to you in this sector. Have you ever wondered how do you become a pilot? You will need to make sure you pass the relevant medical checks for the type of pilot you wish to train as. Then you will be required to enroll at a flight school to take on the training that will eventually lead to you becoming a qualified pilot.

The course can be completed in as little as 12-18 months and you can be on your way to embarking on a new career in the skies.

Medical Field.

There are so many options if you decide to retrain in the medical field. From a doctor to a nurse, radiographer and anesthetist. There are many people that participate in the care of others in a medical environment.

In pretty much all cases, you will be required to enter into full education before embarking on a training period — the length dictated by the area you are training in. This is seen as a vocation as opposed to simply a career change. People training for this type of qualification will need to be focused and determined to help them stay the course and follow it through until they are fully trained.

Legal.

Working in the legal field can involve you simply training to be an assistant or secretary in an office of law. Pursuing a new career as a lawyer or attorney will take some serious education, as above for the medical field, and require you to gain a bachelor’s degree in any given subject.

You will then be required to take the LSAT’s, Law School Admission Test to be able to attend law school. Lawyers train in many different areas of law and chances are you’ll know what area you will be looking to practise in.

You will be studying for around 7 years to become a fully qualified lawyer. You will be required to take the ‘bar exam’. However, different states could have different requirements when it comes to being a fully trained lawyer. If you choose to practise in more than one state, you will have to take the bar exam in each different state.
