There’s no doubt that securing tables at buzzworthy conventions is the ultimate way to directly promote your company to your target market. Over the weekend, 100s of world-class tattoo artists did just that at Travis Barker’s 10th annual Musink Tattoo Convention & Music Festival. Held at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, CA, Musink gave the tattooists the chance to network with 20000 ink and music lovers.
In Musink’s multiple convention halls, the award-winning tattoo artists, piercing specialists, and vendors set up shop and showed off their masterful work. Attendees were able to get inked up or pierced while swarms of onlookers and potential customers watched. The tattoo artists put their marketing skills to work, as they offered special discounts and set up attractive displays featuring portfolios that were filled with images of their past work. Throughout the weekend, tattoo artists also networked with each other and shared ideas.
Hundreds of tattoo artists were hard at work all weekend, including featured artists Robert Atkinson, Jack Rudy, Nikko Hurtado, Little Linda, Juan Puente, Small Paul Stottler, Yushi Holie Glory, Marc Jackson, Fabian Iezzi, Franco Vescovi, Baba, Eddie Tana, Gold Rush Tattoo, Corey Miller, Britton McFetridge, Freddy Negrete, Alex Trufant, Charlie Roberts, Eric Gonzalez, Chuey Quintanar, Norm, Big Sleeps, Frank Whittington, Shawn Barber, Kim Saigh, Lynn King, Big Gus, Bob Tyrrell, Rich Pineda, Julius Vargas, and Steve Schultz.
Rock and punk music go hand-in-hand with tattoo artistry, and Musink gave attendees an incredible lineup of electrifying performances throughout each day. On Friday, old school punk fans were treated to sets by NOFX and The Vandals, and everyone also raved about Lagwagon and A Wilheim Scream. On Saturday, the enormous crowd rocked out to The Used‘s greatest hits, including “The Taste of Ink” (perfect for the tattoo theme). Attendees also went gaga for Glassjaw, Goldfinger, Story of the Year, and Hell Or Highwater.
Sunday was just as incredible as the first two days, as the festival-goers were able to take in exhilarating performances by Bad Religion and Pennywise. All weekend, everyone also got to check out a droolworthy low and slow car show presented by Famous Stars and Straps and Tribal Streetwear. The show featured a vast array of custom-designed classic cars in dazzling hues like candy green, hot pink, and electric blue.
For those looking for a unique experience, a MUSINK / United The United charity auction benefitting The Pathway Home, Hope For The Warriors, One MAPS and Infinite Hero Foundation took place. The auction featured exclusive offerings such as: onstage / side stage viewing of one of the performing bands, two backstage dinner vouchers, and a behind-the-scenes guided group tour.
All of the event sponsors were also able to reach thousands of fans and new customers. Cosmic Fog told attendees about their superior e-liquids for vaping and Golden Crown Barber Shop treated festival-goers to stylish haircuts. Alcohol and other refreshments were also popular at the festival, as the ink enthusiasts had the opportunity to try delectable juices by Naked or get a nice caffeine kick from Rockstar energy drinks. Tecate beer, Blackcraft Whiskey, and Deep Eddy Vodka also provided tasty alcoholic beverages.
Those looking for tattoo essentials were able to pick up issues of Inked Magazine for inspiration, as well as Lubriderm skin care moisturizers to help new tattoos heal. Fashion companies also had a major presence at Musink, as DIXXON showed off their trendsetting flannel fashions and Sullen Clothing told attendees about their tattoo-inspired, artistic tanks and tees. Everyone also loved partying with 2nd Floor and Johnny’s Neighborhood Saloon and Pizzeria, both of which are uber popular hangouts in Huntington Beach, CA.
Lastly, Wienerschnitzel gave away coupons good for one of their mouthwatering chili dogs or an ice cream, a.k.a the perfect treat after a day of browsing tattoos and crowd-surfing!
Musink was produced by Bill Hardie, Travis Barker, John Reese, and Sean Akhavan. Presented by KROQ radio station, the concert series also brought in thousands of inked-up music lovers who also scheduled appointments with the tatooists. Sponsors also amassed new customers.
