Twitch has been one of the fastest growing online communities in the world in recent years. It’s been one of the best ways for streamers to build up a platform without having to spend a huge amount of money on the software needed to get started. It also has a number of different ways for streamers to boost their revenues; one of these methods includes the affiliate program. We’ve taken a look at some of the best ways for streamers to create their own content, while also monetizing it at the same time.

These streaming methods all offer great opportunities for streamers to make money on top of the bonuses that are already made by being an affiliate. Once we’ve gone over some of the top ways to stream, we’ll go into more detail on what the affiliate program offers.

Gambling Streams

Gambling streaming is a great way to create content for a number of different reasons. Firstly, it allows players to create a lot of different revenue streams for themselves. Operating within the gambling sphere is a fabulous approach to creating different revenues. It’s something that a lot of people don’t understand about this line of work. They think that it just provides fun for the streamers and viewers, but it can actually raise earnings for the streamer.

What gambling streamers tend to do, is choose some of the most exciting casino games around to play for an audience. This is most often video slot games, but it doesn’t always have to be these titles. Games such as Blackjack and Roulette can also provide lots of entertainment. Not only that, but they can also give the streamer the opportunity to explain their strategy as they play the title on Twitch. This can provide a lot more strategy and fun to players.

Video Game Streamers

This is without a doubt the most common type of stream that you’ll find on Twitch. The platform was pretty much built on gaming streamers, and what they offered to viewers in terms of enjoyment. It’s one of the easiest ways to get started, as a lot of people look towards gaming streams as the top tier content on the platform.

Since it first started up, gamers have gravitated towards Twitch as a preferred platform. A lot of this is to do with how simple it is to get started. Players can set up their platform however they like, and from there, create revenue in a number of different ways. While Twitch has been growing in size, it’s allowed creators on the platform to also boost their following.

One of the biggest ways that Twitch streamers have been increasing their revenue, is by putting Twitch streams on YouTube after the stream has finished. From there, they have used this to get a new following from a different demographic, but they have also earned advertising revenue from YouTube as well. Lots of gaming streamers also get sponsorship from different gaming companies to add to their earnings. This doesn’t have to be the games that are being streamed either.

Sponsorship can come from anything from the chairs that the streamers are using to the equipment that they are playing on. This can obviously increase how much is earned by streamers above and beyond what is available through the affiliate program.

Comedy Streamers

This is something that has popped up a lot more often in recent times. Streamers have been using Twitch to create their own comedy shows. It can cover a wide spectrum of different genres, but generally it sees streamers create a live scripted show that will offer different forms of humour.

These are usually aimed at trying to segue into a TV career for the streamer, but of course, there are other earning opportunities available as well. Sponsorships are some of the most obvious ones, with product placement being a common theme for the more popular streamers.

Affiliate Earnings

Affiliate is the secondary tier for streamers on Twitch. It’s not on the same level as a partner, which is normally reserved for the biggest traffic drivers for the platform, but it does offer the ability to earn money. There are a few things that streamers have to do in order to become an affiliate on Twitch. All of these have to be carried out over the last 30 days.

  • Have at least 50 followers
  • Have at least 8 hours of streaming time
  • Have streamed on at least 7 different days
  • Have an average of at least 3 simultaneous viewers on your streams

If you have all of this, then you will qualify to become a Twitch partner. Once you are a partner, then you will be able to earn revenue through the Twitch platform itself. This is paid out depending on the local currency where you are based, and it will use equivalents to the amounts that are covered in its terms of services.

It means that streamers are able to earn 50% of the fee for every subscriber that they get, $0.01 from every bit that is awarded during their stream, and they will get 5% of any purchases that are made from affiliate links that are placed on their stream. If a donation is made to the stream, then this will be given to the streamer in full; no cut is taken from that.

Obviously, this means that in order to earn a significant revenue from Twitch, it does require streamers to be both active and successful. This is why they tend to look for other revenue streams to top up their earnings. It does show that Twitch wants their affiliates to be active, so if you want to become an affiliate, an active streaming schedule is the most important thing to set up moving forward.
