There are millions of websites on the Internet but still web designers are confused over the following question— what are the elements that make a good website?

Creating a website is challenging, especially if you are a beginner. Nevertheless, everything gets into order with time and experience. Most web designers forget the fact that websites are not made for them but for the users. It is important to prioritize their needs first.

A good web design agency would avoid the following mistakes that many professionals make while web designing. Have a look:

1. Poor readability

This is imperative to a successful website. A good interface design may seem appealing to users but they need to comprehend the text in order to use the website. There are many websites that use offbeat font styles and sizes that make reading an issue.

It is important to use a font style and size that is readable to the users. Focus on the usability before making it look visually appealing.

2. Bad navigation

Navigation within a website is essential. Users must be able to find their way around the website easily. Web designers are soon realizing that a consistent and intuitive navigation is instrumental to their success.

If you are using a text for navigation, then make sure it is concise. If hyperlinks are incorporated, then make sure they are easily distinguishable from the rest of the text. The structure of navigation must be consistent with the existing theme of the website. Keep in mind that if users cannot find what they are there for, they will leave the website.

3. Background music

Users are not on your website to listen to music. They want efficiency and not coolness. Don’t try to ruin your efforts by infusing unnecessary background music and tones. Some designers make it worse by putting music on every other webpage.

It is highly recommendable not to use any sort of background music. Rather, give an option to the user to stop or pause whenever they want.

4. Inconsistent design

Creativity is good but excessive creativity can be a bad idea. Some designers waste their time and efforts by creating different designs for every webpage. This confuses the user and even irritates them. No matter how good it looks, if the overall design is not consistent, user will feel less in control. They will leave the website as soon as they arrive. Create simple designs and make sure you don’t confuse your users.

5. Complicated registration forms

This is another common mistake all web designers make. We do not live in an era where a user is supposed to enter massive amounts of information to register to your website. Some websites involve registration fields that are necessary to fill. Excessive entries frustrate the users which would then divert their attention. Keep in mind that users are there to acquire information and not to provide information. Keep registration forms that are simple to fill and require less time.
