After working in several jobs in the fashion industry, UK-based designer and entrepreneurial phenomenon Vicky Grivas discovered a major void in the clothing market. She searched for luxe and trendy fashions that focused on ethical manufacturing and sustainable materials, but wasn’t having any luck with her quest. Once she discovered this need, Vicky took her love for fashion, the environment, animals, and people and created Menesthò: a truly ethical and sustainable resortwear brand.
Featuring dramatic harem pants, daring halters, flowing organza skirts, and sensually tailored jackets, Menesthò offers luxurious and on-trend fashions perfect for any occasion. They produce all their collections in London and make sure that everyone involved enjoy superior work conditions that meet all European standards. All of Menesthò’s cruelty-free and organic fabrics and components are sourced only in Europe, thus ensuring that the company reduces their environmental impact and CO2 footprint. Named after the water nymph daughter of mythological gods Oceanus and Titus, Menesthò speaks to the spirit of travel, beauty, and nature evoked in its designs.
“When I realized that the ethics I represent are different from the ones of established fashion houses in regards to environmental issues and animal treatment, I knew I had to move forward and choose an alternative path that was more costly. However the results are really satisfying,” Vicky says.
According to Vicky, Menesthò’s primary customers are women with strong character who are not afraid to be distinct and make a statement with their wardrobe. Menesthò also caters to worldwide travelers who seek warm destinations and need clothes to accommodate their needs. Vicky uses social media and web marketing to promote to these target markets. “We believe that these platforms are the future of advertising and fit perfectly with our model of looking into the years to come and embracing the changes we will experience,” she says.
Vicky says that the primary advantages of working from home are being able to set priorities and timescales for tasks required by your business in order to grow further. “It is rather complicated to balance your work with personal life, since your little team needs to be present 24/7 and manage a lot of projects, Vicky says. “Working from home gives you the freedom to acknowledge your personal and business needs and satisfy them in a manner that is timely, yet nonnegotiable in terms of quality.”
Menesthò’s greatest achievement thus far is creating a unique and exclusive product in a relatively short period of time. Vicky has also been enjoying the vast positive feedback from both customers and fashion professionals. However, she has greater aspirations for the future: “In three years, we aim to be a globally established brand of ethical and sustainable resortwear,” Vicky says. “We want people to associate our brand with high quality sustainable summer clothes and swimwear (our next project planned to be launched in 2017, made from recycled fishing nets), and feel confident that we understand and prioritize their needs to deliver only the best to them.”
Menesthò is available for purchase in the US online through Limeset and Popmap. With pieces ranging from $200.00 – $600.00, Menesthò offers luxury, ready-to-wear styles at a moderate price-point that rivals today’s high-street favorites.
