Darlene’s journey to success was not without obstacles. After working in management for over 15 years, Darlene ended up losing her job during a downturn over a decade ago. That’s when someone suggested she start a home-based business. Initially skeptical, Darlene decided to give it a shot. She started out as a notary public and signing agent, drawing on her love of entrepreneurship and her fascination with solving business challenges. With time, she multiplied her efforts, exploring more unique and innovative ways to make a living from home.
Over the last decade, Darlene was able to find opportunities to work as a tutor, telemarketer, wedding officiant, selling things online, collections, property preservations, loss mitigations, site inspections, bookkeeper, Quickbooks ProAdvisor, licensed tax preparer, flipping land, solar sales, licensed insurance salesperson, author, blogger, and more.
Darlene shares with us, “I have been able to do things I never thought possible, I love what I do, and I make more money than I ever did at a job. It’s been amazing.”
She printed business cards and flyers, used word of mouth and networking, and leveraged online searches to attract clients from all over the country. She also created frameworks that set her up for success. By aligning what she was passionate about and enjoyed doing with what the market wanted, and building a solid foundation from the outset, she was able to create a profitable business within just six months with just part-time work.
Darlene says, “It’s about more than just the money though. It’s about having the freedom and flexibility that comes with being a business owner. I get to spend more time with my family and be there when they need me most. I don’t miss all the things I did when I had to work a regular job. I don’t know why I waited so long. I wish I had made the leap a long time ago.”
