Becky advocates for families via her self-published book, Just Tell Her to Stop: Family Stories of Eating Disorders, one-on-one and group coaching, and speaking to both families and health professionals.
Becky promotes her home-based business to parents, eating disorders treatment centers, and professional organizations for health care providers. She has found free social media tools such as Facebook, Linked In and Twitter to be vital components in reaching her customers. These tools, in addition to in-person networking events, conferences, community involvement, and speaking engagements help her connect with parents as far away as Australia.
Becky’s greatest business achievement was when she heard from a mom who had read her book in Greece: “Thank you Becky for writing this book. You helped me feel less alone.” After the isolation Becky experienced on her own journey parenting a child with an eating disorder, she is on a quest to make sure other families don’t feel alone while saving their children.
Working from home is ideal for this spirited, independent, creative woman who is on a mission to change the way parents are included and respected during their child’s eating disorder treatment. Becky says the primary advantages of working from home for her are the freedom to create her own schedule, no commute, and a peaceful and private work environment that allows confidentiality when coaching parents in crisis. Being able to take a walk in the middle of the day or work well into the night are benefits she also cherishes.
As she enjoys her mid-day walks, Becky visualizes where her home-based business will be in three years. She sees herself speaking internationally, facilitating group coaching of parents at weekend retreats, doing book signings, leading tele-class trainings for treatment centers and selling licensed training programs to them, and sitting by the fire coaching 10 clients per month.
