TShane Johnson is a man of many trades — businessman, father, athlete, Marine Corps Veteran, motivational speaker, Rotarian, and an Amazon best-selling author, to name a few. These days, he is busy traveling around the world, motivating and speaking with employees at companies such as RedBull, the United States Navy, Hyatt, Best Western Hotel and Resorts, and Caesars Entertainment.
But it was not always this way. At twenty years old, TShane was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California, when he hopped onto his motorcycle for a ride up to Corona. He was deliberately crashed into by a car full of gang members, and he flew off of his bike at 45 miles per hour. He slammed into a wall, was robbed and left for dead. He managed to drag himself to a nearby fire station with a smashed rib cage, internal injuries to his lungs and other vital organs, and a punctured bicep that was damaged to the point of bleeding out.
“Something told me I had to keep going and get myself to that fire station,” he says. “From there, I received medical help and was airlifted to the hospital. I flatlined three times — twice in the helicopter and once at the hospital. I could have given up, but I chose to face the excruciating pain.”
The challenges did not stop there. Johnson eventually recovered and left the military. He had an entrepreneurial spirit that led him to launch a successful mortgage company. He was able to earn seven-figures in his early twenties unfortunately when the market collapsed he lost everything. Still, TShane did not give up. He had to walk everywhere (which would later influence a lot of his work), and was homeless for two years. Using the wifi from a Dunkin Donuts in North Carolina, he worked extremely hard to get back in business and off of the streets building three companies. Within two years, his companies generated over 40 million dollars a year in sales.
In recent years Johnson has dedicated himself to raising money for homeless veterans and calling attention to the devastating rate of veteran suicides. To accomplish this, he founded Hike Across America. He has recently completed his fourth Hike Across America tour. Carrying a 100-pound backpack, he covered 22 miles each day along the East Coast, stopping to speak to over 180,000 people at many notable venues. He chatted about leadership, hardships, and told success stories of veterans and first responders. Each year, the proceeds benefit a different Nonprofit last year’s proceeds went to benefit the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E program, which is building specially adapted smart homes for our most severely wounded heroes.
“Many people do not realize that even though I am on the road for Hike Across America, I am still running three successful businesses,” he says. “My start up Mortgage company and Leadership Consulting Company originated 14 million dollars in sales in 90 days, all while I was on tour. Fortune favors the brave. If you want something you have to take it. There is no doubt you will get hit and it will be painful. You must embrace that pain and use it.”
In October of 2019, TShane challenged and broke the World Record for fastest one-mile carrying a 100-lb pack. “Yes, breaking a World Record is awesome, but I ultimately did it to bring more awareness to Hike Across America and our mission,” says Johnson.
TShane has written two Amazon best-selling books, Keep Your Feet Moving and Hike Across America based on his life experiences. His third book, Done by 2:30, contains valuable lessons and most importantly tips as to how to finish the work day by 2:30, in order to make time for family and be present. TShane’s life revolves around his daughter Charli. “Everything I do, I do for her,” he says.
Johnson has recently released a new e-book, Become The Leader You Are Meant To Be, and is taking on new virtual coaching clients and speaking opportunities.
