For the Love of Business: Couple-Preneurs

Couple-Preneurs may not be the “norm” for some or even something that business owners would want to venture into, but for Randy and Angie Stocklin – working together has been as easy as saying the alphabet. When asked how they are so successful running a business together – it always leads back to the balance they share. Their weaknesses are constantly being complimented with the other’s strength, which ultimately leads to a balanced relationship that has worked for the past twelve years.

Back in 2003, Angie Easterday decided to take a risk with online dating and responded to an email that was perfectly punctuated, but rather mysterious as the user didn’t have a profile picture. After introducing himself as Randy Stocklin, both found out over multiple email exchanges the common grounds and values they shared. It was time that they eventually met in person and after the second date, both realized that they didn’t want to do life without each other.

Come months later, the two were married and embarked on one of the biggest adventures of their life. When Angie had first met Randy, she knew that he was passionate and outspoken with his interest of being an entrepreneur. Later on the honeymoon, she was reminded of his entrepreneurial-mind, as her new husband whipped out home flipping books on the beach. Angie didn’t mind though, as that was something she always admired from her husband.

During the first year of their marriage, Randy was actually working full-time job and engaging in consulting work on the side. It was through Angie, stepping in to help, that they both began to realize their passion for working together. While some may be totally against working with a spouse, it was easy for the Stocklins’ to put their brains together and create something great.

As a school psychologist, Angie never thought that she would ever jump ships with her career – but it slowly happened and everything just made sense. After identifying a sunglass business for sale in 2006, they immediately purchased the company together. Starting in the very rooms of their home, Sunglass Warehouse began to expand into something that neither of them saw coming. What began as a one-room adventure turned into a whole house excursion. In August of 2007, Angie decided to leave her job to focus solely on their company. With Sunglass Warehouse growing at an exceptional rate, Randy left his full-time job in technology in 2008 and decided that it was time to focus on their company too.

Throughout the years – this “couple-preneur” have been breaking the mold for eCommerce and eyewear. What started out as a fun way to spend time together led the Stocklins’ to a thriving business that all started with the passion to work together. Come twelve years later and titles including CEO and COO, Randy and Angie Stocklin are leading a team of over 70 team members  at their company, One Click, that is the parent company to three eyewear brands: Sunglass Warehouse, Readers.com, and felix + iris. With significant growth, their team continues to grow in areas of marketing, technology, merchandising, customer service, fulfillment, and finance.

With a culture that is innovative, welcoming, and dedicated to spreading happiness, One Click has been recognized on multiple occasions with prestigious awards for company culture.

Joining an online dating service in 2003 may have been risky at the time, but having done that – Randy and Angie continue to take risks every day together. Not only are they running a successful company, but they’re traveling the world and seeking out new adventures for both personal and professional ventures. Ultimately, life has come full circle for this dynamic duo. A friendly relationship that started over the internet has led to a multi-million dollar eCommerce company that stems from the one thing that first brought them together: online services.
