Local businesses can register at Municipal web page to learn how to bid on government contracts.

Mayor Ras J. Baraka, the Newark Municipal Council, and Deputy Mayor of Economic and Housing Development Baye Adofo-Wilson announced today that the City of Newark is launching a national search for qualified small business enterprises (SBEs) to register with the City of Newark Office of Purchasing to be notified about bid, RFP, and RFQ opportunities.

Mayor Baraka’s Municipal Purchasing Initiative has the potential to infuse millions of dollars into the small business sector to spur job creation and business expansion. “We are making it easier for small business enterprises seeking to bid on municipal contracts with the City of Newark to connect with us, by using 21st-century technology. Doing so will make the process more effective, efficient, and connect to a greater and more diverse range of businesses. This will in turn enhance the professionalism and efficiency with which we deliver municipal services to our residents, visitors, and stakeholders. I commend our Economic Development team on creating this cutting-edge initiative to help transform Newark into a City we can all believe in,” said Mayor Baraka.
