Need plans for the weekend? There are plenty of fun things to see and do, including free activities that the whole family will love. Why not attend a scent making workshop, or spend the afternoon at the park?
Here are seven other fun ideas for things to do this weekend.
1. Go for a Walk in the Park
If the weather is right, head out to your local park and go for a walk. You’ll enjoy some exercise and get the chance to spend time in nature. Slow down and take the time to enjoy your walk. Observe the local wildlife and just be in the moment.
If you want to kick it up a notch, bring your bike and go for a ride. Explore new trails and paths to enjoy the best of what nature has to offer.
2. Visit a Museum
Check out a local museum. Many have free admission, and those that don’t usually have affordable ticket prices. Spending an afternoon at a museum is a great way to get out of the house and learn something new.
Visit your local city or county website to find information about free museums nearby.
3. Make Your Own Pizza
Who can resist fresh, homemade pizza? It’s easier than you think to make pizza in your home kitchen. Plus, it’s a fun activity that the whole family can participate in and enjoy.
The dough is the most complicated part. Make your own (here’s a great recipe to try), or buy fresh dough from your local grocery store (most markets carry them). Grab some pizza sauce, cheese and your favorite toppings to make your pizza extra-special.
Play some board games or watch a movie while you devour your homemade treat.
4. Attend a Workshop
Check local event calendars, social media and Craigslist to find workshops that you might be interested in. Workshops are a great opportunity to learn new things, make new friends and have fun in the process.
You can find workshops on virtually anything, including:
- Cooking
- Perfume making and other crafts
- Entrepreneurship
- Art
- Languages
- Acting
- Photography
- More
Don’t be afraid to try something new or get outside of your comfort zone. You may just discover a new hobby or interest.
5. Take an Online Course
If you can’t find a live in-person workshop that you want to attend, why not look for an online course? There are hundreds of courses available online, and many of them are free.
Courses are a great way to expand your knowledge, and when you do it online, you can move at your own pace.
Whether you choose a subject related to your work or just for fun, you’re sure to find a class that you love.
6. Spend the Day at the Zoo
If you love wildlife and nature, then why not spend an afternoon at the zoo? You’ll have the chance to see some of your favorite animals and learn some fun facts in the process.
Zoos often have special exhibits, too, and other fun activities that you and the family can enjoy. Don’t forget to bring your camera, and make sure that you have enough time to see all of the exhibits that you want to see.
If you don’t have any zoos nearby, there may be a petting zoo or wildlife sanctuary you can visit. If all else fails, you can always head to the park to see local wildlife.
7. Have a Game Night
Do you love games? Why not have a game night? Whether it’s board games, video games or online gaming, you’re sure to have a good time. Play with the family, or invite friends over.
Here are some tips to make your game night even better:
- Have everyone choose a game to keep things interesting.
- Don’t forget to have snacks and drinks ready to make your gaming even more enjoyable.
- Have a theme for your game night and ask guests to dress up.
Your game night can be as simple or elaborate as you want it to be. As long as you’re playing games that everyone enjoys and there’s plenty of food to eat, there will be plenty of laughs and memories made.
These are just a few of the many fun things you can do this weekend. What do you have planned?
