As we continue to move forward in the new year, it is always a good idea to take stock. How did you do last year? What did you do well at? Where did you fall short? What was missing or just not working in your life?
Usually our challenges come from our pace, place, people or through our problems. This is from a recent Christmas Sermon delivered by an amazing and inspiring Pastor, named Steven Furtick from the Elevation Church.
When we analyze where our challenges come from it usually has to do with the pace of life we’re leading. You know the deal, this is about being “too busy” to take on anything else, even the things that bring meaning and fulfillment to our lives.
The other area that causes distress is a place. Can you relate to this? “I can’t stand going to work, my boss is such a so and so”!
So, and so quit then! Which is probably why you are now self-employed.
But there are other root causes to our challenges. People can cause grief and aggravation. Heck, if you survived Christmas, we all have a family member that can kind of get under our skin. Or maybe it is a client or business associate, that can drive us bananas!
Lastly, we have a myriad of problems. If you survived 2018 in one piece, it could have been a health problem, financial, relationship or personal problem.
We all want to move through our challenges, so we can breathe and feel peace. However, according to Pastor Furtick’s message, peace isn’t on the other side of a challenge being overcome. Peace is right here, right now! Be peace, peace is not some elusive goal being met, it is available to you now if you walk with God, or a higher power, or with faith, whatever it is you believe; begin to walk with faith in 2019.
Here is the bottom line: we all have challenges, each one of us. We want to have less stress over those. Can you imagine what your life would be like if you just completely trusted that all would be fine?
It is like learning a foreign language!
We begin to become addicted to the suffering of our daily circumstances.
As we take on 2019, walk in peace, faith, trust. It won’t be easy, but boy will it help you cope better to what comes your way.
Be a willow tree. It bends but it won’t break! Have you noticed that?
See your challenges as opportunities to learn, grow and become a better you about them.
Surround yourself with support networks. Don’t think that you are the only one with problems. We all have them. Guaranteed! However, get the support in place to help you walk through them, in faith and trust.
Now go take 2019 head-on and trust you will make it. You will, I promise.
