Pet-Tech: Furry Friends and the Litter Box Struggle

Can you recall the last time you heard a cat owner say, “I really can’t wait to clean the litter box when I get home!”? No? Never? Not even once?

Exactly.

People hate scooping cat litter!

But as much as people hate scooping cat litter, people still obsess over cats. There’s something about these highly intelligent, independent, and intuitive creatures that people love. Scooping litter, however, doesn’t seem to be one of them.

Now, while owning a cat is awesome, being your cat’s personal litter box maid is not! But it’s one of the few unpleasant elements that comes with owning a cat. It can be easy to forget to clean your cat’s litter box, and people do it all the time. However, not cleaning it regularly can have a serious effect on your furry companion, both mentally and physically! Cats can be particular, and having a safe, clean area to “go” is important to them. It may seem like a nuisance to meticulously clean your cats litter box daily, but a clean litter box is far more important than many cat owners think. In fact, not taking proper care of your cat’s litter box can lead to some nasty surprises, like illness-causing bacteria such as E. coli and salmonella, or common parasites like roundworms and tapeworms.

So, what can you do to ensure that your furry friend’s litter box is always neat and tidy without having to check it every hour?!

Well, here’s two options:

  1. Find a new home for your cat 🙁
  2. Get a Litter-Robot to do it for you! 🙂

What’s A Litter-Robot?

The Litter-Robot is an automated, self-cleaning litter box. Go ahead and hang up the scooper, your days as the litter box maid are over! Just pour in any clumping litter to the fill line and get ready to embark on your scoop free journey.

How It Works

The Litter-Robot’s cleaning cycle relies on the cat sensor, a weight sensitive switch that detects when your cat has entered or exited the device. After your cat finishes its business, the Litter-Robot senses your cat leave and begins a count-down timer, allowing the litter to clump before a clean cycle begins. As the globe slowly rotates, the patented sifting system separates the clean litter from the clumps, and drops the waste into a carbon-filtered drawer in the base. The globe returns to the home position, leaving a clean, level bed of litter for the next use. If it’s just one of those days, and your cat decides to re-enter the device during a clean cycle, don’t panic. The Litter-Robot will not eat your cat! The device will stop immediately when the cat sensor detects your cat. It will wait 15 seconds, then attempt to resume the cleaning cycle. You can also manually stop a clean cycle by pressing any button on the control panel. To resume, simply press the cycle button.

As for maintenance, it’s quite easy and infrequent! The Litter-Robot is equipped with infrared emitters and sensors that will notify you when the waste drawer is full (usually every 7-10 days for one cat). The full waste drawer bag can then be removed, thrown away, and replaced with a standard kitchen garbage bag, large grocery bag, or the Litter-Robot custom-fit, biodegradable waste drawer liner.

It really is that simple!

With its patented sifting system, the Litter-Robot uses a unique combination of time, rotation, and gravity to make scooping litter a thing of the past. You can finally stop complaining about having to clean the litter box, and your cat will always know it has a clean place to “go”!

As we enter the era of drones and self-driving cars, don’t you think it’s time we kick the standard litter box to the curb and let the Litter-Robot handle it for us?! Would you still wash your clothes by hand? Or ride a cart and buggy to work? Then why in the world are you still scooping litter?!
