What is it about interior design that makes it so much fun? Unfortunately, after a while, even the most fabulous interiors get to be old and boring. On the bright side, as soon as you think your old décor has seen better days, you can always freshen things up with a whole new look. Doing so doesn’t even take a lot of money. All you need is a little creativity and some resourcefulness.

If you have an overall look that you would like for a home, practically anything can be accomplished. It doesn’t matter if it’s changing little things about a few furniture pieces or installing something new on the walls, such as barn wood. For the latter, all you need is some information from Modern Timber Craft. A few more ideas are below:

1. Make things match

One thing that makes a home look chaotic and disorganized is having many things that don’t match. For example, when you went into a kitchen or a bathroom and found a lot of linens that didn’t match, what did you think? Probably “Ick!” If you have linens, chances are good that you have things that match. Use them for a fresh new look.

2. Freshen it up

There are probably few things that dress up a home’s look more than fresh flowers and plants placed in rooms. This is another touch that is not only easy to do, but also inexpensive as well. And when you opt for plants instead of cut flowers, they last for as long as you keep them watered and fertilized.

3. Say it with art

You don’t have to be a big shot in the contemporary art scene to feel invigorated by art. Do you have a budding artist inside you? Why not let it out by creating a painting or a sculpture that you can display in your home? Even if you think your art isn’t very good, it’s something you created, and who cares what anyone else thinks? Display it with pride. Besides, you might find you have a hidden talent you didn’t know existed.

Artwork doesn’t even need to be individual pieces. Instead, you can make your walls a piece of art by applying decorative touches such as barnwood. Barnwood is a generic term for unfinished wood, whether it came from a barn or not. It is immensely popular today as a decorating tool for homes, offices, and practically anywhere else that a unique rustic look is desired.

4. Storage as décor

Did you ever go into your kitchen, bathroom, or other room and found an overabundance of stuff lying around? We thought so. If that’s you too, why not put small things in decorative jars and bottles? This solves the clutter problem, but it also tends to dress up counters and shelves with bottles, jars, and other glassware that you can make as decorative as possible.

5. Don’t forget your sense of smell

As long as you reinvigorate your sense of touch and sight, why not do something nice for your olfactory sense with some pretty smells? Scented candles, essential oils, or a big bouquet can always create a pleasant atmosphere that everyone will appreciate.

There are many different ways to dress up your home in terms of decor, but it’s most important to remember that you don’t need to spend a lot of money for spectacular results. Your creativity will probably shock you.
