Over Academy Awards 2016 weekend, star parents were out celebrating at the Pre-Oscars Boom Boom Room. Held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, the posh, kid-friendly gift suite featured must-have parenting products and appearances by stars like Young & Hungry actress Kym Whitley and Denise Boutte. It was a fabulous, must-attend awards season celebration for Hollywood’s top celebrity families.
As per usual, the parenting picks at this year’s Pre-Oscars Boom Boom Room were phenomenal. Stars received stylish and innovative reusable cloth diapers from Little Owl (manufactured in Los Angeles), fashionable and handmade silicone teething necklaces from Loulou LOLLIPOP, and Turtle Toppy‘s infant car seat covers that come in an array of eye-catching and trendy patterns.
Everyone also adored the award-winning baby teething mittens by Munch Mitt, fashion-forward maternity compression socks by tootsies, and chic onesies by Modern Fort. Groovy Charms also wowed the crowd with their non-toxic, clip-on charms that help kiddos make a fun fashion statement wherever they go.
At the event, Home Business Magazine chatted with Young & Hungry actress Kym Whitley while she was demoing her Don’t Feed shirts that ensure little ones are not accidentally fed food or drinks they are allergic to. Kym was happy to share how she came up with the idea for her shirts.
“As a mother, my son is allergic to everything and I thought that pinning a note to him every day was not a good idea,” Kym shared. “I had to come up with something to keep my son and other children safe. The Don’t Feed shirts were born after my son was born.”
She went on to chat about her newest invention, the KwicStick instant car seat installer that will launch in Spring 2016.
“A lot of men and women with larger hands can’t get that seat belt through the hole in the back, so I came up with something that makes the process quick and easy,” the actress said. “Presto! You can change the car seats out from one car to the next. This is especially great for families who have just one car seat.”
Kym also shared tips for inventive entrepreneurs who want to bring their product ideas to life.
“Have a sounding board and have someone to help you because it is a lot of work,” she said. “Start by getting a patent pending, ask questions, and talk to a lot of people. What you don’t want to do is create a product and then say, ‘Oops! Oh I shouldn’t have done that!’ Then you have to go back and redo everything because you spent a lot of money. Start with a prototype and let other people use it to see if it works.”
