It’s that time of the year again and the question is…”Do downloads make good Christmas gifts?”
Is there a special pdf or an MP3 that you’ve been hoping for? Have you already set up an electronic stocking and does Santa know about it?
And, if you are sending a gift to someone that you won’t be able to see in person, it’s certainly a lot easier and a lot cheaper to send someone a pdf of a book or an MP3 of a song rather than wrapping and shipping and standing online at the post office just to send someone a hard copy of a book or a CD for Christmas, especially if you won’t be able to deliver your gifts in person.
And, think of all the time and money you will save on wrapping and shipping and standing on line when you send things online!
So, if you are going to be sending some electronic downloads for Christmas gifts, the warm, heartfelt emails to some of your family and friends might read…
1) To my poetry loving soulmate whom I very seldom see…
…Attached is a pdf of a book of some very obscure poetry that you just won’t find in a bookstore.
2) To my music loving niece and nephew whom I wish I saw more often…
…Attached are some MP3s of some very entertaining songs that you just won’t hear on the radio.
3) To the best CEO in the world from one of your most hard working and devoted employees…
…Attached is a pdf of a book that can help our company make a lot more money next year!
So, whether you have been naughty or nice, there is a whole new way of giving gifts. It’s giving gifts electronically, and the questions are:
1) Is a pdf or an electronic download as warm and fuzzy as a traditional gift?
2) Do electronic downloads make good gifts and stocking stuffers?
3) …And of course…what would you like to get in your electronic stocking?
Is there a special pdf or download that you have been hoping for?
Is that what you asked for in your letter (or email) to Santa?
Only you and Santa can answer that…and I guess it depends on what the download is.
SO…HERE ARE SOME MORE BIG QUESTIONS:
1) Does an electronic greeting card have the same effect as a handwritten letter?
2) Do you prefer getting a real book, or a pdf of a book?
3) Do you prefer getting a CD of a song or an MP3?
4) Do you already have an “electronic stocking” online where your loved ones can deposit whatever files they feel like gifting you?
5) Does a file transferred over the internet have the same warmth as a gift given in person or by mail?
6) Is it cool to give someone a flash drive full of stuff? (Do you think they will be afraid that it might have some kind of virus?)
7) Is a gift more exciting if you have to unwrap it?
8)…Or, do you just prefer to give and get cash?
9) And… after Christmas, what about gifts for Valentine’s Day? Does a download say “Love?”
SO, AS THE BIG DAY GETS CLOSER…WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING TO GIVE PEOPLE FOR A REGULAR HOLIDAY GIFT OR A “STOCKING STUFFER?”
Is it a tangible gift or is it a download?
And as long as we are on the subject of downloads as Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers, here are some things that you can download as gifts for your friends and loved ones (or for yourself) and you can download some of them for a dollar or less:
FOR MUSIC LOVERS…
Here are two great songs you can download that could become great conversation pieces as you talk about politics or the economy as you sit around the Christmas tree or dinner table:
1) For aspiring politicians or for people who like to make fun of politicians…
Here is a link to a free clip of a song called “Run For Office.” www.barrows.com/music.html
“Run for Office” is a satire on politics. The people will love this song, politicians will hate it. You can hear a free clip of Run for Office at www.barrows.com/music.html and there is also a link on that page where you can download the song for 99 cents on iTunes.
2) For people who think a lot about money (and that just might be all of us)…and for everyone who is on the wrong side of Income Inequality…Here is a link to a free clip of a song about money called “Big Bucks.” www.barrows.com/music.html
If money is indeed the root of all evil, you’re going to love a song called “Big Bucks.” You can hear a free clip of Big Bucks at www.barrows.com/music.html and there is also a link on that page where you can download the song for 99 cents on iTunes.
3) AND NOW…FOR POETRY LOVERS, SONG LOVERS AND BOOK LOVERS…
Here is a link to an ebook of poems called “Crazy Robert’s Poems and Potential Song Lyrics.” You can download the ebook for a dollar on Amazon at
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L2UDYNC
4) PLUS, FOR BUSINESSPEOPLE…(This will cost a little bit more…It’s $4.95)…
Enclosed is a link to a booklet about some advertising math that can help all kinds of businesses make a lot more money. The booklet is called “The Barrows Popularity Factor.” The math is extremely easy to use and businesses can use the math to help them increase their sales, increase their profit and decrease their risk.
You can read more about it and download the booklet for $4.95 at www.barrows.com/bpfinfo.html
IMAGINE…ALL OF THESE GREAT DOWNLOADS COULD BE THE PERFECT GIFTS FOR SOMEONE YOU KNOW…or…just get them for yourself and have a Happy Holiday season.
Will they also make good stocking stuffers? Give some and see what the reaction is…
“Gee, thanks Uncle Fred. How did you know that computer file was just what I wanted?”
“A guy named Santa told me.”
