Guide to Ruby Rings

Traditionally rubies are red, but can occur in many differing shades from a lighter pink to a dark, deep red. There are many different types of rubies as shown in this infographic, such as pigeon’s blood; this is from the Burmese mines that the highly revered “pigeon’s blood” is found. The bluish red shade is extremely rare and highly sought after, and carved rubies can be fashioned into faceted gemstones. There are some great vintage engagement rings from Berganza. Please see the infographic for lots of different types of rubies such as Burma and Star Ruby.
