Scholley Bubenik’s entrepreneurial roots run deep. In fact, they are literally part of her DNA. From her youngest days she had people in her life who she loved and admired for their willingness to step out and do something different and build something of their own that they could be proud of. Her grandfather and uncles emigrated to the U.S. in the early twentieth century to avoid religious persecution and found America to be a land of great opportunity. They opened and ran several small businesses in his lifetime. Scholley’s mother opened and ran a dress store for years in her hometown of Taylor, Texas. So, it’s no surprise that she, too, started a business in her early twenties after graduating college with her first degree. Her first business was a private primary school. She eventually grew the school to a staff of 25 and it thrived. She admits today that she knew very little at the time about hiring and managing people, but she learned a great deal and succeeded anyway. Seven years after it was launched, her school achieved national accreditation. Many of her employees acquired early childhood teaching certifications, and the school became profitable. After she sold that business she returned to her hometown of Taylor. When the Taylor school district received a federally funded grant in 1992 to aid childhood literacy in the town, Scholley was chosen to run it. She spent the next seven years teaching parents how to read, and teaching them how to help their kids learn how to read. The initiative was a resounding success and it was chosen by the NEA as one of 12 acclaimed programs across the country. When that work was over, Scholley began a 20 year career in Human Resource Management, working at the highest level with growing companies and entrepreneurs. Five years ago she launched Premier HR Solutions, a company that serves other growing companies and advises them on all aspects of human capital. Her first book, People Power, will publish on October 15, 2018. Scholley lives in Lago Vista, Texas with her husband, Rick, They have two daughters, Kristen and Stacy.
